Ministry of Education and Science: Russia will not return to the Soviet education system
May 30, 2022, 16:57
The rejection of the Bologna system of education does not mean a return to the Soviet approach to education. A new education system will be created in Russia. This was stated by the Deputy Head of the Ministry of Education and Science Dmitry Afanasiev to form a council of rectors of creative universities.
The new system will focus on experience, including the positive experience of the Bologna system, but will be focused on interests, taking into account international significance. The decision on whether students will study on a two-stage system or on a one-stage system will be made separately for each field of education. Dmitry Afanasiev noted that the innovation of a large expert discussion will be organized in the near future.
According to Oktagon, Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation Valery Falkov announced that Russia would abandon the Bologna system of education and develop it. He stressed that the new system should be based on the interests of the national economy. Russia’s withdrawal from the Bologna system of education was also held by the Secretary of the Security Council Nikolai Patrushev and deputies of the State Duma.
Unified state exam for strength
On May 30, the most massive state exam (USE) in English starts in Russia. In two days, more than 700 thousand schoolchildren will write it. A feature of this election campaign was that the current eleventh graders had not previously participated in the main state exam (OGE) for ninth graders due to the coronavirus pandemic. The day before, the Minister of Education announced the results of Russia from the Bologna system of higher education, which was a signal of the possible cancellation in the near future of the state final certification (GIA) in the form of the OGE and the Unified State Examination.
