Zurich Airport – What is happening with the Russian Slots in Kloten?
What is happening to the Russian slots in Kloten?
The Russian airline Aeroflot has four slots a day at Zurich Airport. What happens to these is currently being discussed at European level.
Around 760 slots per day, including take-off and landing times, were allocated to airlines in Zurich for the 2022 summer flight schedule. Four of them are assigned to the Russian airline Aeroflot. Due to the latest sanctions in connection with the Ukraine war, however, the airline cannot use them. The Slot Coordination Switzerland (SCS), which is responsible for the allocation at the airports in Geneva and Zurich, is currently passing on the slots on a provisional basis. The independent coordination office does not reveal to whom. How Aeroflot’s slots and historic rights will be handled in the upcoming flight schedules (winter 2022 and summer 2023) is currently being discussed at European level. «Slot Coordination Switzerland is in constant contact with the European Airport Coordinators. The decision is still pending », informs media spokeswoman Bettina Kurz from Zurich Airport.
