Pas-de-Calais: dummy weapons discovered at the Longuenesse prison center
The Interregional Directorate of Penitentiary Services (DISP) indicated on Friday that dummy weapons had been discovered in a training room at the Longuenesse penitentiary center, in Pas-de-Calais.
These “life-size” weapons, “Kalashnikov type” and handgun, made of wood and very realistic, were discovered on Wednesday “at the level of the workshops, including one on a work plan”, specified the DISP of Lille, confirming information from the voice of the North, indicating that the matter is “taken seriously”. An administrative investigation has been opened, still according to the DISP.
Hidden in rubble, these dummy weapons “could be used for an escape”, according to Yannick Lefebvre, of UFAP Unsa. The interregional went to the site on Wednesday, with agents from the Regional Intervention and Security Teams, and director of the excavations were absorbed.
Phones also and cannabis resin found
The local sections of the UFAP Unsa Justice, FO justice and CGT penitentiary unions were part of their concern for the security of the establishment after this discovery, asking in press releases that a general search be considered.
The searches required Wednesday in the establishment, which accommodates some 750 detainees, led to the seizure of a few mobile phones and small quantities of cannabis resin, specified Yannick Lefebvre, before adding: “These weapons were made in presence of the trainer, perhaps put under pressure by the prisoners. The CGT also wondered about “the involvement of the trainer”.
