McLaren will drive with the Senna logos from Monaco
McLaren will now drive with the Ayrton Senna logos on its single-seater, starting in Monaco. The Brazilian World Champion and the McLaren team are inseparable, as their course has been crowned with success.
We remember that at the start of the year, it was the Williams team which had removed the logos of the Ayrton Senna Foundation, which she displayed on the museum of her single-seaters since the disappearance of the Brazilian champion.
McLaren recovers Ayrton Senna logos
The team founded by Bruce McLaren owes a lot to its Brazilian driver Ayrton Senna, and from the Monaco Grand Prix, his name will now have a permanent place on their single-seaters. The addition of the logos to the MCL36 was unveiled at the Monaco Grand Prix, where Senna holds the record for race victories, with six wins, including five in a row for McLaren between 1989 and 1993.
Senna made his Formula 1 debut in 1984, claiming six wins before moving to McLaren. It was there that he degraded his status as an all-time great sportsman, winning 35 races and three F1 world championships, before tragically dying while leading the Saint-Marine Grand Prix. 1994.
Thanks to the support of the Senna Foundation, his name will now be inscribed on the McLaren halo. The Senna Foundation was created by his sister, Vivianne Senna, with the aim of training young Brazilians and helping them prepare for life in the 21st century.
Zak Brown, CEO of McLaren Racing
Ayrton Senna is, and always will be, a legend for McLaren. His performances with McLaren, which won him three World Drivers’ Championships, cemented his place among Formula 1’s greatest drivers.
When he tragically passed away in 1994, the entire world of motorsport felt a sense of irreparable loss, but his memory lives on in the hearts and minds of Formula 1 fans around the world. We think it’s only right that we as McLaren recognize his contribution to our sport by carrying his name with us wherever we go racing.
From the 2022 Monaco Grand Prix, the McLaren MCL36 will bear the Senna logo, marking our commitment to celebrating his legacy. I can’t imagine a better race than the Monaco Grand Prix to start this recognition of Ayrton’s life.
Having won the Grand Prix six times, more than any other driver, Ayrton has proven that his skill and ability behind the wheel of an F1 car can rarely be matched. This addition to our F1 race cars will be permanent, and has been added with the support of the Senna family. It will serve as a constant reminder of Ayrton Senna’s sensational talent for us as a team, and for all of our fans around the world.
