Cambodia praises the long-standing relationship with Switzerland
On behalf of the Royal Government of Cambodia and the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Education, Minister Ith Samheng thanked Switzerland for its support to Cambodia in all areas.
The Minister’s remarks came on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the Swiss Cooperation Office in Cambodia and the launch of the Swiss Cooperation Program in the Mekong Region 2022-2025, which took place on May 27th.
Minister Samheng thanked Switzerland through the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), a major donor that has supported Cambodia through projects on economic development, governance, climate change and natural resource management.
He added that the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training has received support from the SDC for a number of projects, including technical and financial equipment, including the first and second phases of the skills development project.
Through their support, Switzerland and the SDC have also provided significant technical and financial assistance to Cambodia at the national and sub-national levels, bringing experience, knowledge and techniques to Cambodia. The SDC works with partners including governments, NGOs, the private sector and other development partners to support Cambodia in poverty reduction and sustainable development and to integrate its four-year strategy.
Helene Budliger Artieda, Swiss Ambassador to Cambodia, praised her longstanding partnership with the Cambodian Royal Government, the private sector, international organizations and civil society.
She said that Swiss support for Cambodia should contribute to the future of this beautiful country and its people, young and old. Switzerland is also involved in regional contexts in order to strengthen regional mechanisms and institutions such as ASEAN.
