Change in management of the Theater am Hechtplatz
Dominik Flaschka is leaving the Theater am Hechtplatz after twenty years at the end of August 2022. Ariane Russi will succeed him on an interim basis.
The long-standing director of the Theater am Hechtplatz, Dominik Flaschka, will step down from his position at the end of August 2022. Dominik Flaschka managed the Theater am Hechtplatz extremely successfully for twenty years.
With plays such as “The Show Must Go Wrong”, “Ost Side Story” or “Ewigi Liebi” he celebrated great successes in Switzerland and abroad and has received several awards for his work as an author and director, including the Swiss Theater Prize , the Prix Walo and the German Musical Theater Prize.
The City of Zurich would like to thank Dominik Flaschka for his great commitment to the Theater am Hechtplatz, to the Kulturplatz Zurich and in particular to the Swiss cabaret scene.
Theater management will be put out to tender again in the course of the renovation
19 applications were received for the job advertisement for the successor to Dominik Flaschka. Since no suitable candidacy could be found in this selection process, the position will initially be filled by Ariane Russi for a limited period of two years. Ariane Russi is a History and English graduate from the University of Basel and holds an MAS in Cultural Management.
She has a wide range of experience in mediation and public relations and was a member of the management team at the cabaret theater “La Capella” in Bern for two years. Ariane Russi has been working as a freelance cultural manager since 2017.
The Stadtwerke to completely renovate and operationally adapt the listed theater facilities in 2023 and 2024. As a result, the position will be re-advertised.
The Theater am Hechtplatz was opened in 1959 and is a small theater right next to the Bellevue in Zurich. It offers around 260 places and is operated by the city of Zurich. The programming focuses on guest performances from the areas of comedy, musicals, cabaret, chansons and children’s theatre.
