Netflix and Prime Video lead streaming services in Portugal in the first quarter of the year – Internet
JustWatch, an international platform dedicated to helping users find the best content on streaming services, I share some consumption data for the Portuguese market, recorded by your system. The platform has 100 countries for more than 100 million users. In addition to curating the content, they also serve as a price comparison, especially when the same files or series are available on different platforms.
The company shared data for Portugal, for the first quarter of 2022., compared to the previous quarter. The rest of the platforms remain in the same position. JustWatch left a note that, despite having recently arrived on the HBO Max market, the service already has 1% of the market share, being the sixth most used by the Portuguese.
In that regard, the first quarter was recorded2 by Netflix, which recorded % of the market share. Prime Video comes in second, closely, with 23%. With a difference of 4 percentage points comes Disney+, which recorded a share of 19%. There is a big discrepancy with the other services, such as FoxPlay, which holds 6% of the market and Apple TV+, which occupies the fifth place with 5%. The remaining 20% allocated to other services not mentioned.
In a more detailed analysis of each month, the Netflix recorded an increase between January and March, although this last month is stagnant compared to February. All companies register a call, except Apple TV+ which grew expensive in February. HBO Max launched at the beginning of March, so it doesn’t have much expression in these statistics.
It should be noted that some of the services, such as the HBO Max (which it inherited from the HBO Portugal base) and Prime Video are some of the services used in promotional campaigns by communication operatorsthus being able to gain greater prominence in the national market.
More streaming services for Portugal are expected soon, such as Paramount+ and Peacock, which reveals its plans during the summer.
