100 guests around a table to discover Luxembourg gastronomy
“Vakanz genéissen” (savoring the holidays): a name that speaks volumes. Visitors might prefer seasonal and regional specialties prepared by local chefs, all in an environment typical of the region.
“Vakanz genéissen” is a new exceptional taste event which will take place for the first time this summer. The concept is simple: 100 guests will be gathered around a large table d’hôtes, for a culinary “journey” through the five tourist regions and the country’s capital.
The unusual places were chosen for their fascinating landscapes, their idyllic nature, their remarkable cultural treasures or their precious historical heritage.
Residents or travellers, singles or couples, with family or friends: everyone is cordially invited to this moment of conviviality. “Vakanz genéissen”: a journey of taste and discovery of a different kind, taste moments of pure pleasure.

Tasting in the Park Dräi Eechelen

In front of the imposing decor of the Dräi Eechelen museum, installed in the thüngen fort completely restored with its surrounding walls, extends the park of the same name. In an impressive environment, you can sit at the long table d’hôtes, while enjoying a panoramic view of the city of Luxembourg.
Park Dräi Eechelen owes its name to the three golden glands that adorn the tips of the towers of Fort Thüngen. Locals and travelers like to take romantic walks here. Laid out with refinement by the French landscape architect Michel Desvigne and interpreted in 2009, the complex today presents a landscape and cultural appeal.

A table in a forest amphitheater
In the Berdorf Forest, a surprising amphitheater emerges from among the trees. Surprising! Its stage was carved into the rock, and seating is also assumed for spectators. Here, the millstones, used in the mills of the region were extracted there. With its exceptional rock formations, the site is one of the natural curiosities of the region. The ideal place to set up your table, eat, drink, talk, laugh…
Several hiking trails lead to the amphitheater, including route 2 of the Mullerthal Trail and the local trail E1 from Echternach.

Vineyards, lakes, pleasure and nature in Moselle
Enjoy nature outdoors, and listen to birdsong: offered from idyllic vineyards, the region of the Moselle offers a beautiful setting to relax and enjoy life. Along the undulating meanders of the river, one can let one’s soul wander.
Close to the “ Baggerweieren », it is particularly pleasant to feast and enjoy the long table d’hôtes. Opposite, in the Natura 2000 “Haff Réimech” reserve, the wealth of flora, fauna and birds present an authentic experience of nature of a very special kind. The regional specialties and, of course, the good wines of the Moselle, titillate the palate.

The park of theEurope in Niederanven is a place for the whole family. Whether relaxing in the botanical garden with a view of the water lilies and gently swaying deciduous trees, or having fun with the children on the playground, there is enough to discover in this area of 1 , 7 ha.
Interested in the particularities of the trees in the park? Visitors can discover by following a thematic trail specially designed for educational purposes. After soaking up nature, the meal served in the middle of the park is even more delicious!

In the region Minett, “Vakanz geneissen” is integrated into a very special exhibition, designed as part of Esch 2022European Capital of Culture, in a former industrial building on the former industrial site of Dudelange.
In the Fondouq Hall, visitors will (re)live Minett’s social life, architecture, nature, art and immigration. They will also find the table where they can eat, drink and chat. The “MinettREMIX” project aims to raise awareness and stimulate interest in the diversity of the Minett region and its industrial heritage.
