Right next to the courthouse, Manuela offers a trip to Portugal… without leaving Rouen. For the happiness of the taste buds.
“Welcome to your Portuguese delicatessen”. Almost a homecoming for Manuela since in Portugal – she is from Vandoma, near Porto – she already had a grocery store. In the meantime, she spent more than 20 years in a Rouen dye before following her daughter’s idea.
Since April 6, a new adventure – with the family – has begun, with flavors of black pork (for the charcuterie) and goat and sheep cheeses (from Serra da Estrela).
The olive oil comes from the Douro Valley, as do the wines which have earned a fine reputation. And the music that greets you in the shop is indeed fado…
At Nela, we come to buy good products. We also come here at lunchtime to eat octopus on the terrace or another dish of the day. Or at any time to enjoy a pasteis de nata, so of the day, like in Belém…
Manuela also has another specialty: pudding; a bit like the “French pudding” (eh, yes!) found in Portugal. But the ancestral recipe is of course secret…
