The metro in the section Hlavní nádraží and Vltavská will not run on the weekend, the reason is the repair of the ceiling panels in Florence | iROZHLAS
If you are standing in front of the Florenc railway station in Křižíkova Street, you will not recognize that the ceiling of the metro line C is below you. It consists of a huge monolithic slab. But it is in poor condition and the workers have to fix it. Therefore, the metro will not run between Hlavní nádraží and Vltavská stations on weekends.

The metro will not run in the section Hlavní nádraží and Vltavská from Saturday 21 May 2022 (from the start of operation) to Sunday 22 May 2022 (until the end of operation). The subway lobby will also be closed. Trams will provide alternative transport.
Prague is waiting for the first of a series of weekend metro closures due to the repair of ceiling tiles at the Florenc station. More information in Jaroslav Hroch’s report
The transport company therefore built a completely new Hlavní nádraží stop in Opletalova Street and will also set up Vltavská stops near Hlávkova most. “Mostly alternative transport is done by buses and here it is unique, we are glad that we managed to secure it by tram – emission-free and far more capacity,” says the head of the Prague transport company Petr Witowski.
But work can be complicated by rainy weather. In that case, they would postpone the lockout to another weekend or holiday. However, this should not limit the operation of the metro on weekdays.

Workers will pull out and replace multi-ton beams, so they will also work on the surface. Daniel Šabík, a spokesman for the transport company, describes what the metro ceiling looks like: “The entire ceiling slab above the Florenc C station vestibule consists of 131 prestressed beams and one large monolithic concrete slab, which is below the intersection of Křižíkova and Ke Štvanici streets.”
The work is being phased in for the next four years, so there will be a total of 26 weekend closures. The station lobby will also be reconstructed and new escalators will be created at the bus station.
The Florenc station was put into operation under the then name Sokolovská in 1974. And since then, of course, aging has been a sign of it. The monolithic plate is threatened by corrosion and the beams do not work as they should. The total cost of repairs is almost two billion crowns and the work is to be completed in the autumn of 2026.
