Lithuania has received threats from Russian programmers: the minister does not care – sekunde.lt
Minister of National Defense Arvydas Anušauskas assures that he does not take into account the threats made by Russian programmers against Lithuania and other Western countries.
The Minister emphasizes that cyber attacks are usually not announced in advance, they simply occur.
“It’s just language, because the reality is different. No one announces cyber attacks in advance, they just happen. And their numbers are not declining. For example, during the first quarter, there were more than 1,000 cyber incidents in Lithuania, which is more than last year, especially the most complex ones, ”A. Anušauskas told reporters on Wednesday.
“I have to say that the website of the Ministry of National Defense was launched, if I’m not mistaken, in the first days of May, five days later we were already in a massive cyber attack. “It is, of course, an opportunity to counter it all, but the very fact that it is happening all the time,” he said.
Therefore, the Minister assures that the threats of Russian programmers are not significant, but according to him, Lithuania should invest more in strengthening cyber security.
“I mean the threats, because every country now pays special attention to cyber, Lithuania – too. I think that Lithuania should also invest more resources in this area, because the national defense cannot provide all civil institutions with what is needed, every institution must also take care of it, ”said A. Anušauskas.
The Minister also notes that the nature of cyber attacks varies greatly.
“Security is enhanced by the nature of cyber attacks. Just note that they are very numerous, sometimes combined with cyber attacks, which break even the barrier into misleading information. So it all depends on what kind of cyber attack or just an attempt to stop the provision of electronic services by any institution, or an attempt to get inside and pump out secret or non-public data, ”said A. Anušauskas.
From May 16. Information channels in the Russian Federation disseminate information about the declared cyber war to the governments of ten countries.
“Today we officially declare a cyber war for the governments of ten countries. At present, the targets of our attacks will be the USA, the UK, Germany, Italy, Latvia, Romania, Lithuania, Estonia, Poland and Ukraine, “says Russia’s Killnet program.
