HANDBALL: JDA Dijon in the fight for a potentially European sixth place
There are two regular season days left to play in the Butagaz Energie League. The JDA Dijon is moving to Chambray this Wednesday May 18 and will receive Mérignac on Saturday May 21.
The end of the season is approaching for the clubs of the Butagaz Energy League, the last two days of the regular phase of which will take place this Wednesday May 18 and Saturday May 21, before the finals scheduled for the following week. If Metz Handball is guaranteed to finish in first place and vice versa without fault (24 wins out of 24 with 72 points), the fight between Brest and Paris for 2nd place and the finals will liven up these last days. The two teams are facing each other tonight and in the event of a victory or a draw today, Brest would validate their second place tonight.
Regarding the other European places, Besançon and Nantes, respectively 4th and 5th are guaranteed to play in the EHF European League. Chambray, Nice and Dijon are fighting for 6th place which could offer qualification for the European League in the event of obtaining validation of a wild card by the EHF and therefore a 6th European place. Fleury, current bottom of the LBE, will be relegated to Women’s Division 2 next season. The finals will be played between Metz and the 2nd in the championship on Thursday May 26 and Sunday May 29, Metz received for the return match.
