Coal warehouses from the south of Moravia are experiencing a rush. People panic
Therefore, many people, in fear of further price increases, decided to pre-supply for the following winter, others put the old solid fuel boiler back into operation. “They are afraid of what will happen next. He’s trying to stock up ahead. I don’t have such an influx of new customers, but rather increased demand from regular ones. It is impossible to say exactly what types of coal are most interested in, I would say absolutely all of them, “František Kašík, the salesman, explained to Deník Rovnost.
A significant shortage on the part of the supplier has occurred in recent weeks, especially in hard coal. The regular shutdown of the mine took place several months earlier this year. Great interest from customers also met with limited resources. “I would like to keep the tanks full and only replenish them, but now the situation is such that what comes will be sold immediately,” Kašík shrugged.
In response to the constant rise in prices, it has increased the price per meter of coal by about twenty percent since the beginning of the year. Petr Sklenář, a seller of solid fuels from Telnice in the Brno region, is in a similar situation. “People mainly demand brown coal and briquettes, prices rose by about twenty percent per meter compared to last year. We have not stocked black coal and coke at all this year. It doesn’t make sense for the enormous sums that suppliers offer today. Customers wouldn’t buy from me either, so it would just be idle, “said Sklenář.
Suicide on the tracks: a train knocked down a woman on the track at Hodonín, she died on the spot
In order to increase its independence from uncertain gas supplies, many South Moravians are putting unused boilers back into operation. The President of the Czech Chimney Sweep Association, Jaroslav Schön, is convinced that it is necessary to use a professional chimney sweep inspection first. “People want to go opposite and increase independence on one type of heating. It is ideal to first call a chimney sweep, who checks the condition of the boiler and the chimney, “said Schön.
Just in case the boiler has not been heated for a long time, chimneys that have not been heat-dried for a long time can get wet. “Before the summer, it is necessary to clean the soot, three times a year is not a problem on your own, once you call an expert,” the man added.
According to economist Lukáš Kovanda, coal prices can be expected to rise by tens of percent in the coming months. “The situation will depend to a large extent on the development of the dispute in Ukraine. If the Czechia cuts off from Russian gas supplies, the price of solid fuels could increase by up to hundreds of percent. People are now responding with an interest in coal, because it is cheaper for them than relying on expensive gas and electricity, “Kovanda said.
Demand for coal in southern Moravia
Due to rising prices, some sellers have increased the amount per meter by about twenty percent.
For fear of further price increases, people buy coal in stock, which puts the woman’s price further up.
To avoid dependence on one type of heating, some unused solid fuel boilers are recovering.
However, the chimney sweeps recommend that the boiler be inspected by an expert before returning to operation.
