A catacomb case is being discussed at the Debrecen Judgment Board
Debrecen – Prostitution, address card taking, fraud, extortion: the calvary of two men and a woman is discussed in Debrecen.
The council of the Debrecen Judgment Board, chaired by Tamás Háger, will discuss the next case on Tuesday from 9 am. In October 2021, the Debrecen Court of First Instance sentenced VM to commit a crime of trafficking as an accused first-degree accused and extortion as a co-perpetrator, with a special sentence of 8 years 10 months imprisonment and 9 years disqualification from public affairs.
MM sentenced a second-degree defendant to 4 years in prison and 4 years in public order for the crime of trafficking as an accomplice and for the crime of extortion as an accomplice. MJ sentenced a third-degree defendant to 3 months in prison for a crime of bribery, the execution of which was suspended for 1 year. The court also ordered the confiscation of HUF 1,275,000 per person for the first-order and second-degree defendants, and HUF 100,000 for the third-degree defendant.
The defense counsel of the first-degree defendant appealed against the verdict for acquittal or mitigation, for the relief of the second-degree defendant, and for the acquittal of the third-degree defendant. The prosecutor’s office appealed for serious aggravation of first- and second-degree defendants. According to the findings of fact made by the Court of First Instance
In 2017, the second-degree defendant worked as a prostitute in Debrecen. In doing so, he became acquainted with the third-degree defendant with whom he had sexual intercourse.
In February 2018, the second-degree defendant borrowed a small amount from the third-degree defendant and handed him his address card as collateral. The first-degree and second-degree defendants conspired with each other to deceive the third-degree defendant and to convince him that he had committed a law by taking the address card. The first-degree defendant (extraditing himself as a police officer) told the third-degree defendant by telephone that the second-degree defendant had been arrested and, since the woman’s address card was with him, he expected to be arrested as well. A few days later, the first-degree defendant had already called the second-degree defendant’s lawyer and informed the third-degree defendant that because he had taken the second-order defendant’s address card, he was suspected of human trafficking.
However, he can help solve the case, so he first asked for a salary of HUF 50,000 and then HUF 100,000 for bribing the clerk. He received the amount that day from the third-degree defendant.
In March 2018, the second-degree defendant called the third-degree defendant, stating that he needed money and, knowing the address, would go to him. The man did not want his family to know about his relationship with the woman, so they met in the Great Forest. The next day, the woman called again, claiming she had been photographed in the company of the third-degree defendant and had been taken out of prison again by her lawyer. Subsequently, the first-degree defendant again issued a lawyer on the phone, saying he was already suspected of being the “runner-up” of the second-degree defendant because of the photo. Therefore, he may be imprisoned for 10-15 years.
He offered to settle the indictment in exchange for a fee of 1.5 million forints and pay another 500,000 forints to the second-degree defendant, because “the police offered him that much if he testified against him”.
However, he refused to do so, so he must “compensate” the second-degree defendant. As a result of the constant threats, the third-degree defendant handed over a total of HUF 2 million to the woman. Subsequently, as a first-rate defendant by telephone, the clerks asked the third-party defendant for another HUF 1.5 million for the destruction of the “evidence” and HUF 500,000 as a success fee. Then another request for money was made, citing the clerk. Thus, a total of 2.1 million were requested from the third-degree defendant.
The third-degree defendant had already said that he could only give 200,000 forints. The first-degree defendant told the third-degree defendant that he would hand over the money to the woman, and then it was agreed that he would pay the remaining amount the same day. After handing over the 200,000 forints, the police arrested the first and second defendants. Public sitting.
