People are going on trips again, and trade fairs are taking place again. The room prices of the hotels in the Hanover region, in the Celle district and in the Nienburg district have risen massively.
According to the German Hotel and Restaurant Association (Dehoga), anyone who is still looking for something in the state capital for the Hanover Fair must expect twice the price or even more – but that was always the case before the pandemic. But apart from the Hanover Fair there was an overall increase of about 20 percent due to increased costs for energy, food and also personnel due to the increase in the minimum wage.
Prices in Celle double quickly
In the district of Celle, too, overnight stays in hotels now cost more. According to Christine Reimer from Dehoga, the prices for a single room, which were still lower until recently, have quickly doubled – also because the hotels now have to pay back Corona aid. A third of the district is part of the Südheide Nature Park – holidaymakers would be more willing to accept that if it were explained to them, says Reimer.
Difficulties in the district of Nienburg
It is more difficult in the district of Nienburg. The hotels and restaurants there actually have to increase their prices by 20 percent, says Friedrich-Wilhelm Gallmeyer from the famous Dehoga. But then the guests would stay away completely. So most of them only die by ten percent and hope that the guests will then increase their money in the hotel’s restaurant.
