The Moscow Conservatory launches the International Music Festival “RUSSIA – THE UNIVERSE OF SOUND”
The cultural life of Russia is full of festivals, the so-called ethnic (folklore, folk, middle) music, which takes place in different countries and has a different scale. In general, this gives Russia the idea that our country is a vast territory inhabited by a heightened sensitivity of ethnic groups, manifesting its own distinctive languid cultural traditions. However, this perception cannot be complete if it is performed through the passive perception of information: through the Internet, through the TV screen, and even through a one-time visit to a concert, and, as a rule, is a set of popular stereotypes. Communication is what determines people’s lives now, their development and behavior, their attitude to the world and their vision of themselves in this world. It is communication that forms the collective mentality, national character, ideology, culture.
Festival “Russia – the Universe of Sound” Today, more than ever, it is relevant and unique precisely because it has found – due to the variety of forms of its implementation (concerts, master classes, social surveys, debates and competitions, scientific and journalistic meetings) – a reliable and supportive environment for live communication between representatives of the most diverse culture and tradition, which, in turn and at its level, will contribute to the “fastening” of the self-consciousness of the citizens of Russia as a universal multinational people.
The festival arose on the basis of the famous international forum of the Moscow State Conservatory. P.I. Tchaikovsky “The Universe of Sound”, which for 19 years has been gathering on its site the brightest, brightest and most intimate cultural phenomena of the world.
The program involves not lush “pseudo-folklore” ensembles, but authentic speakers and real experts in the original international regions of the Russian Federation – from Chukotka to Dagestan. Outstanding performers of Iranian and Indian classical music, as well as representatives of the “high cultural tradition” from Mongolia are invited as guests.
The organizers expect that the audience of the festival is widely accessible (visitors of concerts and information networks), but first of all, young people and the academic environment: students, teachers of educational institutions of different levels of different and broad knowledge, young professionals. They will primarily participate in surveys and competitive meetings, and direct communication with different cultures will be specially organized for them.
As the artistic director of the festival noted Margarita Karatygina, “Like world culture as a whole, the cultural palette of Russia is not a random scattering of diverse elements, not a motley mosaic that does not have a common pattern and unifying form, but a living system in which all elements of a functional coverage. There is hope that by the final events of the forum, the participants’ ideas about their homeland will be much richer and broader. Knowledge and understanding of the neighbors in the House leads to mutual respect and the desire to make this common House better: well-equipped, safe and secure.
The festival will take place from May 8 to October 30, 2022 in Moscow and other Russian cities.
TV channel “Big Asia” is the preferred media partner of the Festival.
