French Cup final: two injured in scuffles between Nantes and Nice Gare de Lyon supporters
The scene is extremely violent. It is shortly after 10 a.m. this Saturday morning. Nice supporters who had just arrived in Paris, to attend the final of the French football cup opposing, this Saturday evening, their club to FC Nantes, had a drink on the terrace of the brasserie Aux Cadrans. Suddenly, a group of about thirty people swoop down on them.
Chairs, glasses, bottles, tables, all objects become projectiles. The attack caused two minor injuries hit in the head. The police carried out 39 arrests in the Gare de Lyon sector at the start of the afternoon of people potentially linked to these facts. As of Friday evening, the police had an eye on the groups of ultras and the agents of the Railway Network Brigade had already arrested 5 people.
1 p.m. this Saturday, the owner of the premises turns away two customers. “We’re going to close the establishment for the rest of the day,” he told them bitterly. Asked by “Le Parisien”, he refuses to comment on the facts. Two police officers proceed to the findings, note the impacts on its front, starred in several places. “The people of Nantes were looking for the people of Nice”
According to a police source, anti-fascists were present in the ranks of Nantes supporters. In the Gare de Lyon district, other establishments had planned for the arrival of Nice supporters and decided to close their terraces and the bar side to favor the sheltered catering part. “We’re not here to beat ourselves up,” notes one of the neighbors of the Aux Cadrans brasserie.
After the fact, a large police force crisscrossed the neighborhood to carry out checks, in addition to the many CRS already present. “The people of Nantes were obviously in the area to fight it out. They were looking for people from Nice, otherwise they had no reason to be there,” said a source close to the investigation.
The kick-off will be given on the lawn of the Stade de France, at 9 p.m., and the police will undoubtedly have the eye of the supporters of the two clubs.
