Bloomberg Announces G7 Decision Plans Against Russia
The heads of the G7 countries will discuss possible new sanctions against Russia at the talks on Sunday, May 8, wrote Bloomberg with reference to sources. According to one of them, the meeting provides an opportunity to coordinate their workloads. The US and allies are finding to agree on new sanctions before May 9, when Russia will hold an export military parade that will feature a speech by Vladimir Putin, Bloomberg wrote.
It is expected that Vladimir Zelensky will take part in the meeting of the President of Ukraine. The subject will be a conversation about the course of hostilities in Ukraine and the cessation of violence in support of the country, reported Reuters, citing a representative of the US National Security Council. US President Joe Biden said he would discuss with G7 leaders over the weekend what they “are going to do or not do,” Reuters added.
Most of all, it is known about the upcoming decisions – the diplomatic consideration of the sixth package of restrictions proposed by the European Commission. It includes a permanent embargo on the import of Russian oil and a ban on insurance and preferential services for the sea transportation of Russian oil, including the disconnection of two more banks from Russia from the SWIFT financial information transmission system.
The US notes restrictions on consulting services for Russian companies and tightening export restrictions for US companies and engineering goods, Bloomberg notes. In addition, Washington may to the EU in the ban to treat with oil and insurance added by the agency. Other G7 countries can also take over the decision to recognize the EU – for their part, it claims.
The G7 includes the US, UK, Germany, Italy, France, Canada and Japan. In 2014 Russia’s membership was suspended. Presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said at the time that Putin did not regret this.
