Foot OL – Lyon has a rookie, this position is closed! – Olympique Lyonnais
In search of an additional goalkeeper to support Anthony Lopes and Julian Pollersbeck, Olympique Lyonnais will achieve a nice coup with the free arrival of Rémy Riou.
Born in Lyon and trained at OL between 1995 and 2007, Rémy Riou never had the chance to keep the cage of his favorite club. But that could happen next season, as the 34-year-old goalkeeper will return to his roots during the summer transfer window. Indeed, according to information from Ouest-France, the current goalkeeper of Caen will leave Malherbe to return to Les Gones. At the end of the contract next June, the former doorman of FC Nantes will therefore be a nice reinforcement for Lyon, and especially for zero euros. Author of a nice 2021-2022 exercise in the SMC jersey, Riou will bid farewell to the public at the Stade d’Ornano this Saturday on the sidelines of the L2 match against Quevilly-Rouen.

Not extended by Caen, the former French international hopeful has found a good way out to end his career in style, knowing that he will be OL’s third goalkeeper next season, behind the holder Anthony Lopes and his replacement Julian Pollersbeck. A far from trivial choice, because Lyon is therefore betting on experience to the detriment of youth, embodied by Kayne Bonnevie, in this very special position of goalkeeper. While waiting to see Riou land as the first recruit of the summer transfer window, OL will try to save their season by finishing in the Top 5 of Ligue 1 in order to recover a ticket for a European Cup. A mission that Peter Bosz will be keen to fulfill in order to be able to build a good squad for next season, including Riou as number three in the cage.
