Russia bans 63 Japanese citizens from entering the country
In addition, the sanctions list includes eight deputies, presidents of media holdings Sankei, Yomiuri Group, Nikkei, editors-in-chief of Sankei, Yomiuri Group, Nikkei and several columnists, as well as a professor at Toyo Gakuin University, the University of Tokyo, the University of Tsukuba and Kobe Gakuin University. All those who are under the ban are banned from entering Russia.
At the end of April, the Russian Foreign Ministry announced Eight Japanese diplomats were persona non grata. They were ordered to leave Russia by May 10 in connection with Tokyo’s full support for “non-Cistonian formations” in Ukraine and the provision of military, economic and political assistance to them. A week earlier, Japan expelled the same number of Russian diplomats.
Since the end of February, Tokyo has adopted several packages of restrictive measures against Russia. In particular, on April 19 in the country started there is a ban on the import of 38 types of goods from Russia: in particular, wood, alcohol, as well as engine parts for ships, aircraft, cars and motorcycles.
In addition, on the same day, the Japanese Ministry of Defense reported on the protection of Ukraine from unmanned aerial vehicles, as well as masks and clothing for chemical protection at the request of Kyiv. Prior to this, Tokyo sent non-lethal equipment specifically designed for bulletproof vests to Kyiv as part of three defense transfer events.
Mid March Japan expanded a list of goods and technologies that are prohibited for export to Russia. The restrictions affected 300 items of goods and technologies, in particular, semiconductors, equipment for maritime and aviation security, telecommunications equipment, communications equipment, military products and others.
In addition, Japan froze the assets of Otkritie Bank, Novikombank, Sovcombank, VTB, Rossiya Bank, Promsvyazbank and VEB.RF. In addition, personal checks have been recorded in the presence of Russia, including President Vladimir Putin, as well as businessmen.
After that Moscow announced on the extension of the peace treaty agreement with Japan. In addition, the Russian Foreign Ministry is extending the consumption of visa-free travel for Japanese citizens to the Kuriles. At the same time, the Russian side decided to withdraw from the dialogue with Japan on the organization of joint economic activities in the southern Kuriles and block the renewal of the certificate as a partner of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation Organization in the sectoral dialogue.
