In addition to the magnificent canvases of the Slavic Epic in Moravský Krumlov, people in towns in South Moravia can see his hitherto lesser-known works. And also the ones that inspired contemporary authors – for example, comic book artists in Japan or the creators of the fantasy story The Lord of the Rings. “We are proud of such a famous native. We will take every visit to Moravský Krumlov and now we can show them other Mucha’s works, “said Jan and Marie Abraham, for example, at the opening.
In Hrušovany nad Jevišovkou, you can also see its unique frescoes decorating the ceilings of the town hall. In Mikulov, in addition to the exhibition at the castle, it is possible to visit the guest house where he lived. “Alfons arrived in Mikulov by train with an empty pocket. On the way, he stopped at a pharmacy where he liked a young pharmacist and painted a portrait of her. In the Hotel U Lva, which no longer exists, he exhibited it with an offer for sale. But he got it from her father, a pharmacist, “said his grandson John.

The funny story inspired Mikulovská to playfully. They are preparing a competition called Find Your Fly. “On the one hand, it’s meant paintings or works that people can have at home and maybe they don’t even know who they’re from. But we are also attracted by the idea of finding offspring. It is known that Mucha was a social man, “said the mayor of Mikulov, Rostislav Koštial. In the Hodonín region, they remember Mucha’s exuberant participation in the slaughterhouse in Hroznová Lhota together with Jožka Úprka.
Tempting stories and works of the famous painter according to the mayor of Kyjov and at the same time the deputy governor of South Moravia, František Lukl, can be a benefit for the whole region. “We want to show that South Moravia has important world-class personalities. Paradoxically, Mucha is better known overseas than in our country. But it will also benefit tourism. Tourists will have more opportunities to explore other places than the notorious ones, “Lukl considered.

Blanensko is one of them, in Doubravice nad Svitavou they recently discovered, for example, a theater curtain, which Alfons Mucha painted for local amateurs. However, Mucha’s trail will take his supporters beyond the borders of the republic to Piešťany. “We are also preparing a big exhibition at the Wallenstein Palace in Prague,” added John Mucha.
