Brussels unemployment continues to fall | Brussels
Brussels RegionUnemployment in the Brussels region also fell in April. The Brussels employment agency Actiris counted 84,459 jobseekers in the entire region without a job. This is a 5.4 percent decrease from 4,860 people in one year, Actiris reports.
Youth unemployment (aged 25) fell by 8.5 percent to 8,197 people, but remains very high. After all, the unemployment rate among the young comes from an unemployment rate of 14.7 percent for the entire working population. In April 2021, 15.7 percent of the Brussels working population was still unemployed.
Just under half of all unemployed job seekers in the capital have been out of a job for more than two years. This concerns 41,474 people (+0.1 percent). Actiris did receive 6,895 job offers from 72.5 percent more vacancies than a year earlier.
“The figures confirm that the Brussels labor market is on an upward trend,” concludes the employment service.
