Located in Calais at the heart of an authentic 19th century lace factory, the Cité de la lace et de la mode is the reference museum for lace woven on looms. Both a fashion museum and an industrial museum, its vast galleries present techniques, lingerie and haute couture, the most contemporary aspects of this high-end textile.
Invented in 19th century England, lace woven on Leavers looms is today mainly made in the north of France. Sophisticated and innovative, it contributes to the creative renewal of fashion and luxury in lingerie, clothing and in multiple fields.
The Lace City is an unmissable fashion venue. in its exhibition gallery, it presents great couturiers or renowned young designers (Cristóbal Balenciaga, Anne Valérie Hash, Iris Van Herpen, on aura tout vu). As for the contemporary gallery, it is dedicated to the abundant scene of contemporary creation in textiles and fashion.
