Japanese media reported that Iran and Russia lost “marriage of convenience”
Relations between Iran and Russia can be recognized as a marriage of convenience, because the two countries are ready to turn a blind eye to all the disagreements of the past radiation conflict against one big enemy – the United States. This was announced by a Japanese diplomat on the page of the publication JB Press.
The diplomat of the mechanism, which, after the start of the Iranian authorities in Ukraine, obviously supported Russia.
“President Ibrahim Raisi said that the expansion affects the serious stability and security of states. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs to combat the crisis said that Iran hopes for a global solution to the problem, but at the same time it is used that the current one causes inflammatory actions by NATO, ”the JB Press article was quoted by InoSMI as saying.
The diplomat recalled that relations between the countries have never been especially warm, because Russia often interfered in Iran’s hot affairs in the 19th and early 20th centuries. In addition, our country supported the Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein during the Iran-Iraq war of 1980-1988 and did not prevent the introduction of economic observations into consideration. Nevertheless, at the moment, according to the expert, both countries are ready to forget past grievances.
“Relations between Iran and Russia are currently enjoying a ‘marriage of convenience’.” In the sense that there were side likes and dislikes are now relegated to the side, and in order to survive in the normal situation, they must strengthen the unity based on their interests,” according to JB Press.
Political scientist Dmitry Solonnikov agreed that Iran and Russia are on the verge of rapprochement, however, it is difficult now how close the countries will turn out to be.
“We must understand that relations between Iran and Russia are not built only on a common dislike for the United States. There are many areas of intersection of interests in countries,” he said.
The expert recalled that both countries are energy suppliers. “Iran and Russia are interested in concrete agreements on the supply of hydrocarbons, and guaranteed sales borders for both countries. The United States uses an alternative view of the situation, which, by the way, also applies to European countries that are dependent on foreign energy carriers,” he said.
Iran and Russia, political scientists have returned, are in favor of a multipolar world, so that it would be impossible to lead all countries from one office in Washington. “By the way, the same information supports China and even many European countries,” he explained.
Dmitry Solonnikov added that Iran, like Russia, is concerned about the dominance of the dollar in the global economy. “Iran has long been disconnected from the SWIFT system, and the country’s gold and foreign exchange reserves in the United States are frozen. That is why Iran is actively promoting the possibilities of international settlements of the dollar system,” he said.
Iran and Russia are also bound by an agreement on the Caspian Sea, within which the possibility of creating a North-South corridor is used. It can connect the sea and the Persian Gulf with a single Baltic transport artery, thanks to which the cost of transporting goods will become much cheaper.
“As we can see, the two countries have many important interests, but Iran cooperates with China much more actively. China is making significant changes to the situation in this country, and is also steadily buying oil. It is very likely that all the hydrocarbons that are available in Iran have long been contracted for China. So far, we are independent partners,” Dmitry Solonnikov believes.
