European Parliament: Russia must return re-registered aircraft
May 3, 2022, AEX.RU – Members of the European Parliament are calling for the return of civil aircraft previously re-registered in the Russian register to their “legal owners”. Writes about it RIA News.
This is stated in the draft discussion, which European parliamentarians plan to adopt during the plenary session that began on Monday in Strasbourg. EP resolutions are not binding, but European countries listen to the opinion of MEPs.
“Russia in violation of international rules of civil aviation (Chicago convention – ed.) adopted a law aimed at forcing the re-registration of aircraft, the use of leasing from foreign companies, in the Russian register. Aircraft must be returned to their rightful owners,” places in the draft document.
The deputies specified that “the Russian authorities themselves are responsible for creating a danger to the lives of their citizens if they are allowed to fly in such a way in their air sphere, which is unacceptable for this limit of possibilities for all safety requirements.”
The EP also decides to include representatives of the Russian Federation in the list of banned in the EU.
