Women’s Ligue 2: A final Toulouse – La Tronche-Meylan
Toulouse and La Tronche-Meylan will face each other in the final of the Women’s Ligue 2 to join the elite of women’s basketball.
Despite the support of a wild public, the SIG could not prevent La Tronche-Meylan (Isère) from confirming the result of the first leg (73-58) by winning 54-61 with the efficiency of the pair Morgan Batey (18 points) – Aurore Pautou (16 points).
Meanwhile, there was also no need for a support match for Toulouse against Aulnoye-Aymeries (67-41 in the first leg), with a second victory (60-66), despite the resistance of Evita Herminjard ( 19 points and 8 rebounds). Isabelle Strunc (30 points and 7 rebounds) was the spearhead of Toulouse.
“We had to draw on our resources to win,” commented TMB coach Xavier Noguera for The Dispatch. “Strunc made the difference, she stands out, but I think the whole team did the job. We have to take advantage of the present moment, we have a free weekend to prepare for our matches against La Tronche-Meylan. It will have to be done precisely. These will be very atypical encounters, against players who don’t give up. It’s up to us to stay with what we’ve been offering since the start of the season and to play with the application. »
The final will therefore pit Toulouse, which has already made inroads in the Women’s League, against La Tronche-Meylan, which has never yet known the peaks.
