Angèle receives Bronze Zinneke as ambassador of Brussels
The Brussels singer-songwriter Angèle also received a Brussels prize on Saturday, the day of the MIAs: Het Bronzen Zinneke. The prize symbolizes her informal ambassadorship for the Brussels region. Brussels minister Sven Gatz, who is responsible for the image of Brussels, presented her with the prize.
The Bronzen Zinneke is a mini version of the well-known work of art of a Brussels mongrel dog by Tom Franssen, which is located in the Kartuizerstraat in the center of Brussels. Every year, a famous person who is ambassador for Brussels receives the prize. Previously, the honor to receive the Bronze Zinneke went to Johan Verminnen, Vincent Kompany, Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker and Toots Thielemans.
Angèle, born in 1995 in Uccle as Angèle Van Laeken, is a young singer-songwriter who quickly became popular at home and abroad. She has a typically Brussels humor and her album called “Brol”, which became a proposal in the Brussels metro, was a perfect example of this. She recently made a declaration of love to the capital with her hit song “Bruxelles je t’aime”.
“I was already a fan of Angèle’s father, when he was the bassist of the legendary Brussels group Allez Allez,” he says. ‘I also became a fan of her brother when he took his first steps with strong lyrics to Brussels groove. And now I’m a fan of Angele. Tu aimes Bruxelles, Bruxelles t’aime et nous aimons Bruxelles’, says Minister Gatz.
