WHAT GUARANTEES?
Staging the situation with coronavirus infection is currently associated with risks. Airlines cannot fly to other (including “friendly”) countries on most of their Boeings and Airbuses due to the fact that the aircraft can be delayed by the lessor in the port.
According to experts, the Turkish pilot program will be implemented by Aeroflot based on the descriptions that the carrier buys from the lessor.
So, on April 20, it became known that Aeroflot could buy out 8 Airbus A330-300 wide-body aircraft ahead of schedule. Covet of Aeroflot was supposed to answer this question on April 25th. The results of the discussion were not reported, but it is obvious that the airline’s management decided to buy the aircraft.
In addition to the risks associated with refueling aircraft at the airport, their maintenance.
There are rumors that Aeroflot will not refuel in Turkey at all – the flight range of the A330-300 allows refueling only in Russia. But experts interviewed by ATOR Vestnik doubt that these rumors are realistic.
WHO ELSE FLYS BETWEEN RUSSIA AND TURKEY
If we talk about Russian airlines, then three carriers at once – Red Wings, Azimuth and Rossiya – fly to Turkey on domestic SuperJet 100.
Also, Red Wings operates flights to Turkey on a Boeing 777 (for the Biblio Globus tour operator). PegasFly and AZUR air fly to Turkey on Boeing (after the first flight on April 29, but what its flight program will be is not yet clear).
From the Turkish side, flights are operated by Turkish Airlines, Corendon, Pegasus.
Most flights are operated by Turkish Airlines. Rosaviatsia previously agreed with the carrier 108 flights to Russia per week (one way). This is transportation of about 100 thousand people per month.
At the end of April, the airline requested an additional 349 flights with departures from 27 April. This will allow transporting another 280,000 passengers per month.
According to the results of the US Department of Transportation, an increased program of Turkish Airlines flights with a period until May 15 later: 30% of the requested frequencies in Moscow and in full flights in the regions of Russia.
According to expert estimates, all this makes it possible to carry out about 200 flights a week from Russia.
In total, according to the Ministry of Transport, at present, all Turkish authorities are allowed to carry out up to 290 operations per week in Russia.
Russian carriers have been issued permission to fly 122 a week to Turkey. If Russian quotas are increased, the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation will calculate the possibility of increasing the quota for the Turkish side, the ministry said on April 29.
