Prague-Prčice March: Those interested must use the registration via the Internet
For those who are very attracted to the Prague-Prčice march, it is not enough to buy shoes and go out deftly, as Ivan Mládek exhorts in his song. And no, this time there is no question that it is advisable to go on a long-distance march in shoes that are nicely worn out and not newly acquired. Maybe before suitable shoes, those interested in participating must think about electronic registration. He won’t “walk” without her – in words and letters.

Dana Horáková pointed this out on Tuesday for the organizers. Those interested in finding their place on the route must book online between 5 and 19 May – although I will not take part in the march until 21 May. “This year it will not be possible to come there at the start of the march,” Horáková added.

The Feast of Telescopes, which is undoubtedly the Prčice march, has reached the age of 55 after two years missed due to coronavirus. But that doesn’t mean everything is as it used to be. “The covid-19 pandemic and work on the Prague-Tábor railway corridor brought fundamental changes to the organization of the march,” Horáková added.
In particular, the exclusion of railway traffic between Olbramovice and Chotoviny now brings restrictions. The organizers are asking the Central Bohemian and Prague torchbearers to choose the northern routes: for example from Benešov, Bystřice (with a new start), Olbramovice or Sedlčany. The traditional 70-kilometer route, which starts in Prague’s Háje, also applies; The 23-kilometer children’s route leads from Votic and the 13-kilometer wheelchair-accessible route from Miličín. A total of 21 routes are prepared – including specialized for cyclists. From the 56th year – which should come next year without further forced breaks – everything should be the same again.
The organizers emphasize that those interested in participating in all the information and the current rules should study on the official website of the march praha-prcice.cz. It is essential to remember that registering for participation – directly for a specific route – will only be possible in advance this year: from 5 May, when registration on this site will start at 10.00 (and will last until midnight on 19 May). Participants will receive a simple guide – and after paying the entry fee to the account (CZK 40 per person; this year without the appropriate benefit), participants will receive an e-mail, which they will then prove at the starting point. There they also get a map with a place for stamps from checkpoints. “Registered torches listed on the same registration (ie under one QR code) must start together – and only from a selected start,” Horáková pointed out.
