Cooperative flats for young families and key professions will be built near Radlická
Affordable housing is an increasing problem in Prague, according to available figures, housing in the metropolis is the second most expensive in the whole of Europe. Affordable housing is not just for young families or seniors, but also for key professions such as teachers, police, firefighters or paramedics.
“Cooperative is the fastest way to help the people of Prague get more affordable housing – not only for young families or seniors, but also for representatives of the professions key to the operation and development of the cityfor example, teachers, paramedics, firefighters or police officers, “said Hana Kordová Marvanová (STAN), Councilor for Legislation and Housing Support.
The plan to support affordable cooperative housing was approved by the Prague City Council two years ago, and last year the city management signed a memorandum of cooperation with Prague 5, the territory of which is the land of the capital selected for construction. 221 to 266 flats should be built in two blocks of flats with separate entrances and their average area should range from 54 to 65 square meters. Part of the flats, about a third, will then be kept by the city and offered for rent. Prague estimates the construction costs at 950 million crowns.
“Ideally, we expect that the first candidates to start joining the team next year. We have also launched a website with complete information for this project. But over 300 people have already contacted us, and we haven’t even launched a campaign. So we assume that the interest in this type of housing will be really great, “said Marvanová
Those interested in cooperative housing will have to meet several conditions, inincluding permanent residence in Prague and the fact that he does not own any other property. “At the beginning of the quarter, the cooperatives will repay the rest as a share of the loan that the cooperative will take out with the bank for the construction,” Marvanová explained. In addition to the cooperative repaying the loan, there will be more pay to the municipal fund designed to develop affordable housing.
According to Marvanová, the project in Radlická is not the only one that is being prepared. It is currently the most developed project for the construction of 150 apartments in Oistrachova Streeta memorandum of cooperation with the City Hall of Prague 13 should be signed here in the near future. Similar projects in Prague 10 or 12 are also being negotiated.
