Sedlec-Prčice (Příbramsko) – On May 21, fans of tourism will go to the 55th year of the Prague-Prčice long-distance march. While in the previous two years its organization was made impossible by the pandemic, this year it does not have to count on restrictions due to the reconstruction of the railway corridor between Prague and Tábor. They will be able to go on the march only after prior electronic registration. It will no longer be possible to register until the start on the day of the march, ČTK informed today on behalf of the organizer Dana Horáková.
Registration will be launched on the website www.praha-prcice.cz May 5 at 10:00 a.m. and will run until midnight on May 19. The interested party completes the simple registration instructions and after paying the entry fee to the account, receives an e-mail with the data needed to start on the relevant route. At the start, after presenting the confirmation e-mail, they will receive a stamp from the checkpoints. Registered torchbearers listed on one registration set off together and only from the selected start. The entry fee is 40 crowns for each participant.
“Since there is a ban on rail traffic between Olbramovice and Chotoviny this year, we were forced to resort to regulatory measures, including limiting the number of torchbearers,” the organizers pointed out website. Torchbearers from the north are asked to choose the northern routes from Benešov, Bystřice, Olbramovice or Sedlčany. People from the south should go on the route from Tábor or Milevsko. “We believe that we have already exhausted the adversity of the past three years and everything will be as before from the 56th edition,” the organizers added.
Pedestrian routes range in length from 23 to 70 kilometers, with the longest starting in Prague. Part of the route is reserved for cyclists. The walking route for children starts in Votice, the wheelchair route in Miličín. Details can be found on the website www.praha-prcice.cz.
The Prague-Prčice march has been held since 1966, when 500 tourists managed to overcome a distance of 100,000 Czech cubits, which corresponds to roughly 60 kilometers. Tourists last went on the march in 2019. A year later, the event was postponed due to the pandemic, but in the end it did not take place last year either. It was not possible to meet the conditions regarding the number of participants or to obtain a positive opinion from the chief hygienist for the city of Sedlec-Prčice.
