We escaped the really big storm, but the firefighters from Debrecen still had work to do
Debrecen – A larger branch of the city broke down in one place, and a telephone line was cut off in one of the streets.
Debrecen survived Sunday’s storm normally, at first it seemed to be a time of doom, the thunderstorm was strong, but by the time it started to rain, the wind had calmed down and it had only really rained for a short time, accompanied by little ice. However, the winds gave the firefighters work.
Nóra Papp-Kunkli, a spokesperson for the county disaster management directorate, told Dehir.hu that a tree had split in two in Mata János Street and one of its branches had been broken. Professional firefighters in Debrecen were alerted to removing the wood with a chainsaw.
There was also a tree branch problem near the Debrecen-Nagymacs railway station, and firefighters removed it by hand.

A tree branch was also torn down in Nyulas Street in Debrecen, which was cut off by the city’s firefighters with a chainsaw.
In Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén county, firefighters were most often asked for help in the country due to typically fallen trees and damaged roof structures. Two were also more easily injured by the roof tiles falling in the stormy wind.
