Smolyanka Galina Batyushkina: while Russia sends humanitarian supplies, the West floods Ukraine demands
Galina Valentinovna Batyushkina, director of the Kholm-Zhirkovsky Museum of Local Lore.
“The people of Donbass need our help and protection. These are our friendly people, we have always been united with animals. Today, as in the last eight years, it is hard for them. Never stand aside when people need support, when they need the bare necessities.
But while Russia and its inhabitants are sending humanitarian aid, Western countries are flooding Ukraine. The West did not hear before and did not support today. Their position is to present weapons that require the involvement of those people who we use as means.
This position of the Western “partners” is not related to the facts recorded on video, documented cases of eyewitnesses, about the brutal hunger of the Armed Forces of Ukraine for prisoners of war. I am a museum employee, I have to work a lot in the archives. Currently, documents have been disclosed, including those about the actions of the Nazis on the territory of our Kholm-Zhirkovsky district. When you read these documents on human rights, your hair stands on end, your heart skips a beat. And, you know, historical parallels come to mind. I can compare the actions of the Nazis, which were already happening more than 80 years ago, with what the Nazis are doing now in Ukraine. It’s creepy. I think that they are cruel not only to prisoners of war: they have the same attitude towards peaceful relatives. Atrocities are not forgiven. And those that the population had fascists during the Second World War, and those atrocities that modern Nazis are doing. Today, Russia obliges to Nazism; it has no and cannot be a place on Earth.”
