We’re going to count bees again
Did you know that there is only 1 bee species that can pollinate a vanilla plant? And that bees dance to talk to each other? Want to know more about bees? Join the National Bee Count on 23 and 24 April.
The bee count is a scientific study that is carried out together with residents. In this way, information about the increase and decrease in bee species can be collected from all over the country. And thus better protected.
The importance of the bee
Half of the nearly 360 bee species in the Netherlands are endangered. This also has major consequences for people. 80 percent of our fruit and vegetables depend on pollination by bees and other insects. The bee count is a good time to reflect on the importance of the wild bee. And to share tips to help the bee itself.
Tips to help
With a bee hotel in your garden you can create nesting opportunities. And with bee-friendly flowers and plants in your garden, you can provide more food for the bee. It goes without saying that you should not use poison in your garden and that wild plants and animals should have their own way.
