According to President Zeman, the decision of the Central Bohemian Regional Court warns
Do not judge as Central Bohemia and Prague once did, on Wednesday, April 20, the President of the Republic Miloš Zeman advised the newly appointed judges. During the traditional ceremony at the Castle, he sent 39 women and women to the judge’s robes, the names of which were suggested to him by the Minister of Justice Pavel Blažek (ODS). Ten of them will be tried in the district courts in Prague, five others in the Central Bohemian district courts.

The vast majority of the new appointed 25 women and 14 men will operate at this judicial level. An exception is Michal Bobek, a former Advocate General of the Court of Justice of the EU, whose new seat is the Supreme Administrative Court. At least in the role of judge: he has worked as an assistant to the president of this court in the past.

During the ceremony, Zeman drew more attention to the case of Robert Tempel, which indirectly but relatively sharply affected earlier decisions of the High Court in Prague, but also the Central Bohemian Regional Court. Tempel was tried in a double murder case committed in Western Bohemia, but the locally competent Regional Court in Pilsen acquitted him three times.
However, his decision was always overturned by the Board of Appeal of the Prague High Court, which eventually withdrew this case of “disobedient” Pilsen – and handed it over to the Central Bohemians. This was followed by an admission of guilt and a life verdict, which was confirmed by the High Court.

The Tempel then failed with other remedies in our country; the European Court of Human Rights ruled him right. He was eventually released last October after two decades found behind bars. According to Zeman, this case is a warning – it is said to excel in length, but it is not unique. The president therefore called on the new judges to make a fair and confident decision.
