TOULOUSE NEWS INFO. Assassination attempt: two men imprisoned after a fire in a building

The facts occurred on Friday April 15, 2022, in the heart of Saint-Gaudens (Haute-Garonne). The firefighters intervened for a fire which occurred in an apartment, located in a building in the heart of the city. Although the disaster, fortunately, did not cause any casualties, all the occupants of this building which, according to our information, was squatted, were able to be evacuated in time. And the fire was not accidental.
Criminal investigation
“From the start”, confirmed at Toulouse News the public prosecutor of Saint-Gaudens Christophe Amunzateguy, “The fire has been identified as being of a criminal nature”. The next day, Sunday, two people were arrested in Comminges and placed in police custody. And the prompt investigation by the gendarmes of the Saint-Gaudens company made it possible to shed light on the real motivations of the suspects: not only was the accident voluntary, but the prosecution quickly reclassified the facts as “assassination attempt”.
“The fire was started in the but to kill someone, or a minimum of him harmful, ”says the prosecutor. Charges to which the prosecution has grafted a “endangering the life of others”, for the risks that the suspects posed to other residents.
The criminal center of Toulouse receives the case
Tuesday, April 19, the Saint-Gaudens prosecutor’s office divested itself in favor of the criminal division of the Toulouse public prosecutor’s office, who opened a judicial investigation for attempted murder and endangering the lives of others. The two suspects were charged and remanded in custody.
Two repeat offenders
Both are fairly well known to the courts for various and varied cases. The first, born in 1980, an already copious criminal record for narcotics, contempt and other driving offences. The second, born in 1982, has also already been sentenced for acts of violence and narcotics.
