The Bohemian Symphony Orchestra Prague will offer Hollywood music in Prague
“The concert hall with a performance called Hollywood in Prague will feature music from the famous films Star Wars, Harry Potter, Pirates of the Caribbean, Titanic or Heavenly Love. The well-known melodies will be performed by an orchestra of sixty musicians, including singing soloists such as Lucie Večeřová, Noema Erba and Lee Andrew Davion from the United States. David Gránský will be the special guest of the evening, “said Kateřina Dědková on behalf of the organizers.
“Film music is unique in that it can engage listeners across genres and bring together audiences of all generations,” said Martin Šanda, chief conductor and director of the Bohemian Symphony Orchestra Prague.
The concert, which will not be interrupted by a break, will also feature melodies from recent film or series hits. These include, for example, the opening track from the fantasy saga The Game of Thrones and the song Shallow, made famous by the film The Star Was Born, which won the Oscars for Best Film in 2019, including singer-songwriter Lady Gaga. Fans of the gaming industry will also find something to their liking in the form of videos based on video games, such as Uncharted or The Witcher.
The Bohemian Symphony Orchestra Prague was founded by Šanda in 2002. Since then, the orchestra has toured several times with rock legends such as Deep Purple, Nazareth, Europe, Alice Cooper, Toto, Foreigner, Journey, Uriah Heep and others. He can also boast of collaborating on projects with the Swedish band Sabaton, the British Kosheen, the Spanish opera singer José Carreras or the vocal groups The Tenors. The orchestra has given a number of classical concerts throughout Europe, toured Japan and China, and has performed concert concerts on the Czech stage at the Municipal House in Prague.
Hollywood composers play music at concerts in Prague quite often. For example, three years ago, in the packed O2 Arena in Prague, film melodies by composer Hans Zimmer were heard in symphonic arrangements performed by an orchestra conducted by Gavin Greenaway. In 2018, the Czech premiere of the screening of the first film from the Star Wars saga with live music accompanied 5,000 people to the O2 arena in front of a giant screen. Star Wars with the subtitle New Hope with music by composer John Williams was accompanied by the Prague Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of conductor Christoph Eliot. In the same year, among other things, a traditional concert called Hollywood Night took place in the Prague Municipal House at the end of the Prague Proms classical, jazz and film music festival. Five years ago, the American composer James Newton Howard played music for the well-known films The Sixth Sense, Wyatt Earp, Peter Pan and The Dark Knight at the Congress Center with the Czech National Symphony Orchestra.
