The largest international indoor handball tournament for young people takes place in Prague during Easter, ie from Friday to Monday. The Prague Handball Cup has been held here regularly since 1992, this year the players played after a two-year break. The winning teams will receive original cups.
About 6,000 handball players are fighting for the win
377 teams from 15 countries all over Europe came to Prague for the tournament. Most teams, ie 197, compete for the Czech Republic. Almost fifty of them came from Slovakia, 39 from Denmark. However, there are also numerous expeditions from Germany, Hungary and Belgium.
Although about 6,000 handball players compete in Prague this weekend, the number of participants used to be significantly higher in previous years. “We are, of course, glad that the teams maintained our favor, and this year we will be among the largest sporting events in Prague. The decrease in the number of teams is understandable in view of the development in the last two years, on the contrary, we are pleased that we are still close to almost four cases of registered teams. “ explained the tournament director Jaroslav Chvalný.
The grand final will take place on Monday
“It was absolutely crucial for this year to maintain the standard of services provided at the level to which the participants of the tournament are accustomed from previous years and at the same time create such conditions that everyone feels safe here,” he added.

Boys and girls born after 2003 can compete in the Prague Handball Cup. The first two days are played in basic games, followed by the whole competition culminating in Monday’s final.
