Russia sharply cut gas supplies through Ukraine
Gas supplies fell by 18%
The transit of Russian gas through the Ukrainian gas transportation system (GTS) decreased by 18%. This follows from the data of Ukraine “GTS Operator”.
“As of April 16, applications for pumping through the Sudzha gas and Sokhranovka stations from the Russian Federation are only 57.23 million cubic meters. At the same time, a day earlier, it was estimated at 69.98 million,” writes RIA Novosti.
According to the publication, these figures are two times lower than the maximum obligations of Gazprom to Ukraine, which amount to about 109.6 million cubic meters per day according to the contract. Since April 8, transit has decreased, which is used for warming in Europe. However, according to Gazprom, gas for transit through Ukraine is supplied in the regular mode in accordance with the requests of European consumers.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Russia would reduce oil and gas supplies to the West and find other countries to sell energy. At the same time, Gazprom reported that gas supplies to Russia distract from the needs of consumers. On April 15, the company accounting for gas supplies to Europe by 26.4% compared to the same period in 2021.
