The merriment and the noise pouring through the streets is returning to the villages in South Moravia. In particular, residents of villages and smaller towns are looking forward to traditional Easter events, which in recent years have significantly allayed fears of the spread of Covid-19. In many places, there is also a popular grunt.
For example, in Jaroslavice in the Znojmo region, enthusiasts from the Jarmínek association will go with him. “The rattlesnakes will meet at the cross under the castle, we will adjust the route according to the number of children. He also chooses an old man and a young man who will lead the patrol. The meeting will take place on Maundy Thursday at six o’clock in the evening, on Good Friday at three o’clock in the afternoon and at six in the evening and on White Saturday at nine o’clock in the morning, “said Martina Mühlbergerová from the organizing Jarmínek.
Easter habits
Rattle is a church tradition. According to the biblical story, Judas betrayed Jesus Christ on Maundy Thursday, who was tortured, crucified and buried on Good Friday, after which he stayed in the grave all white Saturday. “That’s why the bells don’t ring these three days, but the sad sound of wooden rattles. Tradition thus informs the inhabitants what the time is like, “reminded the pastor Jan Peňáz.

The upcoming holidays are especially important for the faithful, the daily program connected with the events in the church awaits, for example, the inhabitants of the Catholic bastion, for which Dolní Bojanovice pays in the Hodonín region. In addition, the local children get director’s leave on Easter after Easter, and the girls go to the boys to blow their noses.
“It simply came to our notice then. We’ve been doing this for years. We are really looking forward to Easter without drapes and restrictions. After two years, we can finally organize an Easter exhibition. There will also be a costumed chasa, in short, everything. We experience it a lot, especially spiritually. This is, after all, the main message of the holidays, “said the mayor of Bojanovice, Eva Rajchmanová. Her words are evidenced by the program that the local parish is preparing. In addition to traditional gaming, it also organizes a collection for children from India and opens a treasury for contributions to help Ukraine on Maundy Thursday.
Even traditional eggs and Easter eggs, watering or pomlázka cannot meet in South Moravia. Tomáš Skřivánek from Brno, for example, is looking forward to it after the break. “As we slowly return from isolation to normal, they also normalize meetings and visits. Easter could not be without it, as it is customary to go from house to house, from brandy quarter to brandy quarter. And you can’t avoid close contact with that, “he said.
