Russia identified a shortage of lithium raw materials, which came primarily from Chile and Argentina. About it informed Deputy Head of the Department of Metallurgy and Materials of the Ministry of Industry and Trade Vladislav Demidov.
Today, Russia receives raw materials only from Bolivia, another supplier – China – is itself a shortage of lithium.
“We have processing capacities, but if there is no raw material, then a very big problem may be associated with the need for lithium-ion batteries,” explains Vladislav Demidov.
There is currently no domestic production of lithium in Russia. According to Demidov, the company is preparing to start collecting lithium raw materials in the Trans-Baikal Territory, the Murmansk Region and other regions, but it is necessary to increase the increase in the volume of their work. If the company gets the right to choose the place of birth in the second or third quarter of the participation of the year, then within 7-8 months it will be necessary to start production in the pilot production format.
