The next hall on the economic conclusion on the explosion in Ukraine – announced the introduction of a trade embargo. Will Russia survive this blow? How to replace vodka and lard?
Joking aside, there is not much “Cossack” vodka on our shelves – from suitable brands, perhaps vodka “Khortitsa”. And now the capitals of the once Ukrainian brand Nemiroff are so mixed up that it is difficult to judge national reserves.
There was also little Ukrainian lard on Russian shelves. Mostly it remained in anecdotes. And on the shelves most of the Belarusian.
Yes, and food and other vital things are not included in the list of the main items of Ukrainian exports to Russia. Besides, now, during special operations, what kind of trade can we talk about? There were even jokes on social networks that, apparently, Estonian instructors advised about the announcement of a belated embargo in Ukraine. For those who do not remember Soviet jokes: the Balts in them were, let’s say, a reference example of slowness.
– We are fighting, and at the same time trade continues ?! I’m shocked! – said “Komsomolskaya Pravda” Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Economic Policy. Mikhail Delyagin. – I hope that we did not supply their diesel fuel either directly or through Belarus. I think this is just a statement of fact, because how to trade if there is a front line. Another demonstrative attack in our direction.
However, economic relations are not interrupted. Gazprom, for example, said on Monday that transit supplies of gas to Europe through Ukraine continue “as usual.”
“Why wasn’t it banned if they are so proud?” – goad Ukrainians in social networks.
“And gas is not a commodity, but a raw material,” they get out.
However, gas is supplied to Europe, and Ukraine in this case is just a territory through which transit occurs. However, according to the economist, everything is not so simple.
– There is another moment. Ukraine buys our gas from Europe – this is called reverse supplies, – description Delyagin. – But in fact there is no reverse, it exists only on paper. In fact, Ukraine simply takes away how much gas it needs from what is going to Europe. And then it is recorded retroactively, as if she bought this gas in Slovakia. But we are paying for the transit of gas, which actually did not reach Europe, but was on its way to Ukraine. We need to figure out why we do this…
Now this is problematic. However, to estimate how much money Russian and Ukrainian importers and exporters will lose. And in general, who needed it more. Ukraine bought more than $8 billion worth of Russian goods last year, according to the Federal Customs Service. But Russia Ukraine is switching to imports from half as much.
And by the way, Delyagin’s fears partly came true: Russia supplied Ukraine, although not diesel fuel, but the oil from which it is made. And it was the main Russian export to Ukraine. But this is data for the last year – that Russia managed to send Ukraine in 2022, customs has not yet reported.
