The Prime Minister of Greece requested the recognition of Kosovo by Greece
Greece’s recognition of Kosovo was demanded by the country’s Prime Minister Albin Kurti, speaking tonight at the 7th Delphi Economic Forum.
Referring to Pristina’s relations with Athens, Mr. Kurti noted: “We have good communication and cooperation with Greece. The citizens and governments of Kosovo and Greece have no open issues. There is, therefore, a bridge, which we must cross. It is a good time for Greece to recognize Kosovo and before that and especially immediately after we can increase our cooperation. “Greece is a regional leader and could help Kosovo gain more recognition.”
NATO and the EU
“There is no alternative to joining NATO and the EU,” Kurti said.
“The EU is the most important project of peace and prosperity – not only in Europe – since World War II,” he said, stressing that “Europe is our continent and the EU is our destiny.”
Mr Kurti emphasized that the accession of the six Western Balkan countries to the European Union would help strengthen European security, adding that “this would be mutually beneficial as the EU became Europe and the Western Balkans became EU”.
Regarding the Pristina-Belgrade cases, he noted that “they are not easy but must be continued”, stressing that they are difficult because “on the one hand, the crimes of the Milosevic regime are not recognized in the past”, and on the other, “Serbia has not shown it. regret or remorse for these crimes “.
“The non-recognition of Kosovo’s independence and the non-recognition of Milosevic’s crimes are two sides of the same coin,” he said.
For Ukraine
Regarding the war in Ukraine, he pointed out that Kosovo condemned from the first day of the Russian invasion, while rejecting any attempt to compare or correlate what was done in Kosovo with what is currently happening in Ukraine. “There is no comparison between ‘Spring ’99 in Kosovo and’ Spring 2022 in Ukraine, ‘” he said.
“The war must end as soon as possible and that is why we must help the Ukrainians. We must help in their liberation struggle. We will have the end of the war when Ukraine wins. “I do not see any other way to end this war than the complete domination of Ukraine.”
