Gaëtan de Courrèges is well known in Rouen (Seine Maritime) where he performed with his pianist-orchestrator, Olivier Delgutte, while he was involved in creation and training throughout the national territory. He was artistic director of record companies, and author-composer of multiple successes, songs for the liturgy. He was also one of the five members of the group Crëche (Akepsimas, Haillant, Humenry, Mannick and him).
A contemporary version of Passions by Bach
To pay Resurrectedhe imagined a contemporary version of Passions of JS Bach, “a composer who takes me to heaven,” he says. The approach is always the same: proclaim the biblical text, here that of the Gospel according to Saint John, in the mind-blowing translation of the Bayard Bible, by inserting tunes, choruses and musical interludes. Originality of our project: opening with the prologue of the gospel and ending with the resurrection and the apocalypse. Bringing Jean’s story to life with today’s words”.
Rehearsals with the Dedication Ensemble are increasing. This Norman group with variable numbers was created in the 90s by Jean-Marc and Ghislaine Dumesnil to meet liturgical demand. He has recorded albums, performed the backing vocals of several well-known singers and twice hosted the Mediterranean cruise “Sur les pas de St-Paul”. Jean Marc Dumesnil, 62, jazz drummer, singer and guitarist, is a music teacher. He performs in a trio or a quintet within the Jazz improvisation school of Mont-Saint-Aignan. Corinne Lorenzo, Anne Derivière and Jean-Marie Ales are also part of Dédicace for this creation.
“I have a special relationship with the Dedication Vocal Ensemble, admits Gaëtan de Courrèges. For more than 20 years, we have shared friendly and musical adventures. In particular, the slightly crazy one from my 70sare roaring. Until that day in 2019 when Jean-Marc Dumesnil called me: “the group will cease its activities but before that we would like to embark on the creation of your Oratorio on stage”. All in all, finalization of texts and music, negotiations between the author and the composer, orchestrations, choice of musicians, rehearsals… and here we are! “.
This creation with 12 people is intended to turn.
