Indians cheer very late, Scorpions are also in the semifinals
Hanover. In the play-offs of the ice hockey league, the Hanover Indians have reached the semi-finals after a crazy thriller. Coach Lenny Soccio’s team defeated the Blue Devils Weiden 3-2 (1-0, 1-1, 0-1) in the second overtime. In the semifinals they meet the Memminger Indians.

The party got off to a dream start for the hosts. The first successful attack follows after just 29 seconds. Igor Bacek overcame the Blue Devils keeper Jaroslav Hübl from a tight angle, who did anything but look good. The Indians acted like they were unleashed, driven by 4,210 spectators in the ice rink at the horse tower – minus the approximately 200 Weiden fans, who, like last Friday, were conspicuously dressed in dark. Bacek missed the 2-0 in the 7th minute when he smashed over the disc and missed the empty goal.
Bacek played in a forward line with Parker Bowles and Kyle Gibbons – which had to be re-formed with the absence of Branislav Pohanka. With Pohanka, the ECH captain himself was suspended after incidents in game three – but so was Chad Bassen, who holds the same post at the other end and is just as important to the Blue Devils.
The second third started with a moment of shock. After a bad pass in front of his own goal, Joey Luknowsky was suddenly free in front of ECH goalkeeper David Miserotti-Böttcher, but the Indians goalkeeper remained the winner. He was beaten shortly afterwards, however, when Tomas Rubes passed the disc back from behind the goal and Philipp Siller scored with a flick in a short corner (25′). The Indians hit back six minutes later: Sebastian Christmann shot his wrist into the corner (31′), and this goal didn’t seem untenable either.

Bacek’s deflected shot saves the Indians
In the final third, the expected attack from the Upper Palatinate didn’t materialize – because the Indians kept skilfully playing the target from their defensive zone and otherwise didn’t allow many chances. Rubes equalized with a dust-off (54th). In the second overtime, a deflected shot by Bacek decided the game in the 95th minute.
Goals: 1:0 (0:29) Bacek, 1:1 (24:07) Siller (Rubes), 2:1 (30:09) Christmann (Palka), 2:2 (53:11) Rubes (Braun) , 3:2 (94:29) Bacek
The Hannover Scorpions meanwhile won 5:2 (2:2, 2:0, 1:0) at the Starbulls Rosenheim. Are in the semi-finals and meet the Eisbären Regensburg there, who knock out the Saale Bulls Halle. Game one takes place on Tuesday in Wedemark. In the first third, the Mellendorfers took the lead through Christoph Kabitzky (5th) and Thomas Reichel (8th), Zack Philips (6th) and Marc Schmidpeter (11th) equalized quite quickly. The Scorpions were only able to break away in the middle section. Julian Airich (22nd) made it 2:3, but the Starbulls didn’t answer this goal in front of 4332 spectators.
Louis Trattner made it 2: 4 (24th). When SBR keeper Andreas Mechel preferred to leave his box for an additional field player, Patrick Klöpper scored to make it 2:5 (59th).
