The UN General Assembly voted on the issue of Russia’s membership in the Appointment Council
The UN General Assembly voted on Thursday to remove Russia from the UN Council.
Recall that Russia has been a member of the UN Council for the appointment of a person for the second year. The general term of membership of the Geneva-based council is three years.
US Permanent Representative to the UN Linda Thomas-Greenfield chose Russia’s elite from the council after Ukraine blamed Russian troops in the United States of America in the city of Bucha.
By a two-thirds majority vote, the General Assembly, consisting of 193 member countries, can approve a country from the council for systemic and gross violations of human rights during its membership.
Speaking in Bucharest on Monday, Linda Thomas-Greenfield elaborates that “Russia’s participation in the Council for the Adaptation of Man is a farce.”
“Therefore,” she continued, “we are seeing that it is time for the UN takeover to vote to remove it.”
“We cannot be left to a UN Member State that flouts every body we respect to consider sitting on the UN Human Rights Council,” said Thomas-Greenfield.
Since the Russian invasion of Ukraine began on February 24, the UN General Assembly has passed many dangers condemning Russia, for one reason, by 140 votes in favor.
“My message to those 140 countries that are courageously united is this: snapshots from Bucha and devastation across Ukraine, so that we now back up words with our actions,” said Thomas-Greenfield.
Of the approximately 300 dead bodies found in the city following the relocation of Russian troops, about 50 were victims of extrajudicial killings by the regional military, according to Bucha federal authorities.
Reuters has not been able to independently verify who claims responsibility for the killings of the city’s residents.
The Ukrainian authorities say that this is an accidental rarity.
This wording is used by President and Judge Emmanuel Macron.
We remind you that in March 2011, the activities of Libya were suspended in connection with the suspension of the UN appointment of a person – in connection with the violent actions of the forces of Muammar Gaddafi against participants in anti-government protests.
Gennady Gatilov, a Russian representative to the UN Geneva organizations, called the US actions “unreasonable” and stressed that “Washington is suppressing the Ukrainian crisis to its advantage.”
