The 29th European Film Days will start in Prague today
The event will run in Prague until April 10, after which European films will also be presented in Ostrava and Brno. Echoes in the regions will continue until April 13 in another eight cities.
Viewers will have the opportunity to vote for the LUX Audience Award 2022, until May 25, voting will take place throughout Europe. The festival will be opened today in Lucerne by the Danish comedy Miss Viborg. The story of a new friendship is Marianne Blicher’s debut. At the festival, spectators will be able to choose from more than 40 films included in six program sections. The accompanying program will be complemented by screenings of debates, exhibitions, seminars or animation workshops.
The festival will screen films that would not otherwise find their way to Czech cinemas. In six program sections with a broad thematic scope, DEF will present significant debuts, award-winning films from prestigious festivals, animated films and films for younger audiences, families with children, documentaries and films by old masters.
In addition to the two competition sections, there are other sections called To the Thing: Without Parents, which will offer films focused on the current lives of children and adolescents. The organizers present it in cooperation with the representation of the European Commission in the Czech Republic within the European Year of Youth. The Hope section will offer a program focused on images that seek harmony with life and raise questions about sustainability and ecology. The panel called Media – Cold Blood will offer a collection of older, but according to the organizers still exciting and exciting film stories, which is provided by the Creative Europe Media program.
