Slovakia has a problem if it does not adapt to electromobility, it will lose 85,000 jobs
As an EU media portal, Euractiv, Slovakia is currently leading a major challenge in the form of transformation of the automotive industry. If it does not adapt to the oncoming massive wave of electromobility also in the area of development and final production, it is in real danger of losing approximately 85,000 jobs. Electric cars are specific to development as well as production and do not need as many workers when properly organized. In combination with the suppression of the production of cars with internal combustion engines, there will be a large outflow of labor. “Failure to adapt to the new circumstances when switching to an electric car could, in the worst case, lead to a decrease of 4 national GDP by the year 2000, and later at the level of ten percent corresponds to the best case scenario. Total employment may have fallen by 45 percent compared to the 2020 adjustment, which actually means a loss of about 85,000 jobs. ” presents the Globsec study, which was created in cooperation with the Slovak Electric Association (SEVA). “One of the biggest challenges for the automotive industry in Slovakia in the coming years will be the transformation of its economic anchorage to the very deepest global mobility requirements of the future,” added Vazil Hudák, Globsec’s vice-president.
