Who saves the Russian language from the Russian Federation?
The Russian Federation declared itself the mistress of the Russian language, and at the same time imagined itself to be the protector of those who speak Russian, living outside of Russia. What came out of these two false premises? Who and why is now saving the Russian language from an aggressive state? These questions are answered in his weekly column by our regular Free University contributor Gasan Huseynov.
The history of language is not only the history of words, but also the history of names and geographical names. For example, from the Greek name Νικόλαος came the German Nikolai, the Russian Nikolay, and the Ukrainian Mykola. In Russian, this Ukrainian name is written differently – “Mykola”. This entry is a burp of the Valuev Circular of 1863 and the Emsk Decree of 1876, when, in a ban on the Ukrainian language, all Ukrainians were ordered to switch from the Ukrainian alphabet to the Russian, the so-called yaryzhka (or eryzhka). The name of this letter comes from the Russian letter – “er”, the current “firm sign” and “y”, which are absent in the Ukrainian alphabet. The idea of the Russifiers of the 19th century was simple – to strangle the Ukrainian language in the arms of Russian through writing and printing. So, in a circular of 1863, the spread of the Ukrainian language in Russia was attributed to the intrigues of the Poles, who themselves rebelled against the Russian empire, and the Ukrainians pushed for the loosening of tsarist power:
In St. Petersburg, there are even donations for the publication of labor books in the southern Russian dialect. Many of these books have already been submitted for examination to the St. Petersburg Censorship Committee. Not a small number of such books are represented in the Kiev censorship committee. With the latter in the peculiarities of interrupting the passes of the identified publications, the possibility of identifying possible consequences is revealed: education in all schools, without exception, produced in the All-Russian language and the use of the Little Russian language in schools is not allowed; the very question of the usefulness and possibility of using this dialect in schools has not only not been resolved, but even the excitement of this affects the majority of Little Russians with indignation, who often express themselves in the press. They very thoroughly prove that there was not, is not and cannot be any special Little Russian language, and that their dialect, used by the common people, is the same Russian language, only a corrupted case in German; that the common Russian language is just as understandable for the Little Russians as it is for the Great Russians, and even much more understandable than the so-called Ukrainian language now composed for them by the Western Little Russians and especially the Poles. The people of the circle that competes with the majority of the Little Russians themselves are reproached for separatist plans hostile to Russia and disastrous for Little Russia.
The dream of the Russian autocracy – to swallow and master the Ukrainian language as an integral part of Russian – as the Romans once managed to completely dissolve the other languages u200bu200bof Italy in Latin – this dream did not come true. The Ukrainian language has survived. True, the Russian language is indeed available in its dictionary of a mass of Ukrainian words. But the trouble is for some that Ukrainian words, especially those that are important for the self-consciousness of Ukrainians as political nations, are spoken in Russian through the lips in the media today, politicians by volumes and numerous enemies of Ukraine in the Russian Federation. “Mova”, “sovereign mova”, “Maidan”, “independence”… So the disappearance did not become Anti-Russia, but Putin and his friends made Anti-Ukraine out of Russia.
The anti-Ukrainian fury that spread throughout the first post-Soviet thirty years eventually resulted in the current federal government of Ukraine as a state. This goal – to swallow Ukraine as non-existent in a religious political and cultural-historical community – Russian nationalists in Moscow at first hoped for promotion only through language. The impulse is to achieve the recognition of the Russian language as the state state of Ukraine, even if it is rich with Ukrainian, and the former colony itself will fall at their feet. But Ukraine continued to use the Russian language as if nothing had happened. No matter how Ukrainians resisted, special conditions were required for the Ukrainian language and a reduction in the consumption of the Russian language, most countries managed to maintain civic and political loyalty to the Ukrainian state and cultural loyalty to the Russian language.
But for Russian consultants, politicians and Chekists who seized power at the end of the 20th century, this was precisely what was unacceptable. There could not be a large state next to Russia that continues to use the Russian population, but is not part of Russia. You have to understand whether Konstantin Zatulin or Petr Tolstoy, Vladimir Putin or Margarita Simonyan shouted at each other to the Ukrainians, you are all Russians, you just forgot about it! And who did not know that we will explain it now.
To soften the souls of Europeans and Americans, Russian propaganda for a quarter of a century explains at every turn that Ukrainian nationalism is nothing more than just Nazism. What, have they already forgotten, they said, how the Ukrainian Nazis, assistants to Hitler, destroy the court? Look, they are exactly what they are waiting for today! This automatic transfer of the events of the first half of the 1940s to post-Soviet Ukraine did not want to work. And when an event of Jewish origin took place in Kyiv in power, it became clear that there was no “time to build up”.
Mass hatred for Ukraine The collapse of the population of the Russian Federation to full readiness for war.
And if you don’t strike now, then there will be plausible external reasons for the world to fight the coronavirus in Ukraine.
That is why Putin proceeded to genocide, first of all, the Russian-speaking population of Ukraine – people who, from the point of view of the Russian Nazis, failed to cope with the tasks assigned to them – to become part of the “Russian world”.
To do this, Russian writers and Russian politicians had to switch to the language that was cultivated by the Soviet government. This modern state Russian is extraordinarily complex – it has both the official wooden language of ridiculous allegories (“special military operation” instead of the word “war”), and the generally understandable trademark blatnyak of Putin and Lavrov, and the sublime church speech of hierarchs and artists of the word, in general – any recruited for military service, Russian literary and philosophical thought – everything went into the furnace, everything came in handy.
One thing is bad – from the former community with the Russian-speaking Ukrainian world, only one layer remained – the Russian mother tongue. Here is the main Ukrainian nickname of President Putin, and the direction of movement of the “Russian ship”, which was set by the Ukrainian border guards with the Snake Islands.
From the official “Russian world” the Kremlin leaders retain only the Russian swearing as their subject. This astonishing achievement is all the more offensive because pre-war Russia had many excellent poets and thoughts. At present, the Russian Federation is guarded only by Iskanders and Kalashnikovs, from which cities and towns are shot. And the Russian language does not belong.
Mariupol and Bucha, Gostomel and Irpin. Until two weeks ago, Europe’s media announcers didn’t know where to put punches in these titles. They know it. And it is right to choose them on a par with Katyn, with Sandarmokh, with Grozny.
Millions of promotions from Ukraine rushed to Eastern and Central Europe. Hundreds of thousands made it to Germany. Here at first they panicked: where to get so many Ukrainian translators. After all, 99 Slavists from the herd – in accordance with the geopolitical significance – study Russian, not Ukrainian. Yes, and in Germany now lives several million Russian-speaking citizens. Some of them are so prepared by public television that they were prepared for the meeting of “Ukrainian nationalists” as full-fledged representatives of the “Russian world”. Who did they see before them? The same as they themselves, people who fled from the Russian war.
Russian Germans or Russian Jews will never return from Germany to the Russian Federation, but they are used to being spiritually nourished by Russian TV programs: on TV, even a stale footcloth does not smell. But all the same, all these former Russians will live and work in Germany.
But the Russian-speaking Ukrainians and their children and grandchildren, who have now taken refuge in Germany, dream of returning to their free Ukraine as soon as Putin’s war is over, as soon as the Erefian occupiers are driven out. So it happened that at present, all over Germany, Russian-speaking Ukrainians repeat in Russian how to heal their strong Russian-speaking assistants and assistants from severe brain damage that occurs due to the origin of years of Russian lies, big and small Putins and Solovyov, Skabeev and Schroeders.
Yes, this language, in order to further accelerate the world community, prepared the subjects of Vladimir Putin to return to the very life that Russian soldiers are taking away this afternoon in Mariupol and Chernigov, Kharkov and Kherson, Izyum and Donetsk. For the sake of this, Ukrainians are needed who deal with the issues of the Russian language from the Russian world and the Russian Federation.
