To the north of Prague, patients are assisted by paramedics with higher qualifications
From Friday, some members of the Medical Rescue Service team of the Central Bohemian Region can also perform procedures or treatment, which have so far been reserved only for doctors, without the title of MUDr.

The regional ambulance started operations at the station in Zdiby in Prague-East with specialists in emergency medicine. They are paramedics for tasks that a “normal” paramedic with a standard qualification is not authorized to perform without a doctor’s instruction or supervision.
You will not find a portrait of President Zeman in most Central Bohemian and Prague schools
However, the ambulance equipment of these specialists is almost identical to that of regular emergency medical teams (SSCs); in addition, they have some medications. And in Zdiby, Lucas also received an indirect heart massage device – so far borrowed. The machine for about 400,000 crowns, deployed at the regional ambulance for the first time, will not be used in everyday use – but rescuers praise its help: in moments of struggle for life, it can literally release one of the crew’s hands. This was confirmed to the daily by the Zeb rescuer Pavel Horáček, who served as his first night duty in the regime of an emergency medicine specialist at the local site. He did not have to use his “extra” competencies.
The system is to expand
Klára Beranová, deputy director of the Central Bohemian ambulance service for medical and preventive care, told the daily that some paramedics also have the qualification of an emergency medicine specialty at other exit bases. However, they have the highest share in Zdiby, ensuring that they will be represented in all shifts. That is why a pilot project was launched there, from the experience of which the regional ambulance will draw knowledge for expanding the system to other workplaces. So far it has been applied only in Prague; Zdiby is the first rescue base in the whole country outside the metropolis. The location on the highway and good accessibility to the capital also played a role in the selection for the pilot project.

Petr Kolouch, the director of the Prague ambulance service, expressed the pleasure that it was right here at the start of operation on Friday, recalling the excellent experience of the metropolis. He remarked that he lived nearby, in the North Town – and when he knew that paramedics in Zdiby had this qualification obtained during a three-year specialization course with an attestation exam, he immediately felt more safe if he left home north of Prague. Yes, the words were polite – but without much exaggeration.
Debates on change Envy: opponents and supporters did not meet for the last time
The director of Central Bohemian rescue, Pavel Rusý, thanked Kolouch for helping his Prague colleagues; it was from them that the Central Czechs learned when introducing these novelties. According to Markéta Šaldová, the head of the regional ambulance service for the Prague-East district, the result is unambiguous: expanding the competencies of ambulances for emergency medicine will increase the quality and availability of urgent care outside medical facilities.

A small inscription will mark the specialist
Rescuers with higher qualifications do not differ significantly from “ordinary” RZP colleagues. But people will be able to get to know them, Deputy Beranová answered the Diary’s question. The inscription, although small, referring to the presence of an emergency medicine specialist, will be on the ambulance. The marking will not be missing on the jacket of a particular rescuer.
